Hi, gang.

Let me answer some questions in order of appearance.

mtpascoe: No it isn't Pahrump...but the brothel IS under construction. At night, standing across the street you could see a red light coming from one of the upstairs windows, while downstairs period music came from the band and through the doors and windows you could see cowboys, gamblers and other assorted riff-raff taking turns spinning the ladies and lined up at the bar downing shot glasses of whiskey. Was that a sight to behold? You bet!

Amanda: Whitehorse Ranch IS a wonderful place. Whit drove around 100 miles to get there and some of the visitors came from Arizona and New Mexico to attend. There is a "hotel" with five rooms, a ranch house with three rooms, and several buildings that double as a room. Some even camped on the Tivoli Club's floor. Others brought motor homes. I was fortunate to sack in one of the home trailers on the ranch. Don't get me wrong, this is in the middle of the desert and it is rough and sandy, but there are real bathrooms with showers, lol. The rates are great and so is the chow...free! Poker is played at your own risk. this year the games of choice were faro and blackjack.

Glen (Police Magician): There were guns everywhere. Many were genuine antiques while all were period weapons. No modern ones allowed. While the majority of the guests were dressed in authentic clothing there were some guests who did not participate. Normally "German Pete" does not allow people in town with modern clothing but there were people he invited this year who did not own any period clothing, which did take away from the effect. The one with the sneakers came with the special effects guy, which explains the blood and gore.

A good time was had by all!l

Whitehorse Ranch is in the 21st century, guys. It's just that it is a place for 19th Century-Americans to hang out with their own kind--a place where our culture, dress and manners are respected. Of course we have toilet paper and rubbered sports shoes. We just like to keep the place as much like home as possible. In that vein, Pop Haydn's General Merchandise likes to help 19th century ex-patriates adjust to this new world by providing the comforts and staples of good living from the old century. We found that both 19th and 21st century children still love Pop Haydn's Hard Rock Candy--it sold out very quickly. We also did very well on our medicine sales.
